Bakers Pink

A teacher shared with us how a shade of pink was used in doctors offices to calm men specifically down when needles were used. The shade seemed to actually make the males more docile and were able to be administered the shot easily.

It was then decided that since the color calmed men down in the doctors office, its uses could be used in other places. The gyms of some prisons were painted this specially made shade of pink, Barker's Pink. The first few months of the gyms being painted proved that the men were calmed by the color and fights were drastically reduced. This didn't last long and after six months the inmates became psychotically violent. This spike in agression in all cases after prolonged exposure led to the ban of this color. It is now illegal in most places to use Baker's Pink.

Where did you hear about this? Sounds like a neat concept but hard to believe.

I couldn't find any info on it with a quick search.

Is it Bakers or Barkers?

My Graphic Design teacher mentioned it in class, along with some other color stories. She definitely said it was Bakers Pink. I'll check with her and make sure.

Regardless of its accuracy, the core point remains true: Pink is an awful color.
